I’m still on the mailing list for the block I used to live in throughout 2007 up until March of last year. I got this absolute corker through this morning:

Subject: New Years Eve – stolen champagne

Dear Residents

On New Years Eve I left a gift of a bottle of champagne outside the door of Flat 53 (3rd floor). It was to thank Graham and Shan for all their kindness and support after I had brain surgery last year.

Someone stole the champagne but very thoughtfully left the bag and the thank you note.

If you or one of your guests took the bottle then I would ask you to replace the bottle of Laurent Perrier and deliver it to Flat 53.

Not the start to 2009 I was hoping for and very disappointed that someone from our otherwise lovely neighbourhood could behave in such an “un-neighbourly” way.
